Warangal: NITI Aayog committee members on Wednesday said the Centre would extend all support for the comprehensive development of both Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts, carved out of erstwhile Warangal district.
A team of NITI Aayog officials including its Vice-Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar, a leading economist, visited Mulugu and held a review meeting on the implementation of various schemes in both Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts. Addressing the meeting, Dr Rajiv Kumar lauded the performance of the district administrations in the implementation of schemes in both districts.
“Mulugu district is a unique tourist destination and a pioneer in good governance. Farmers, in particular, need to focus on organic farming and create awareness on how to grow crops organically without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers,” he added.
Mulugu District Collector S Krishna Aditya explained to the NITI Aayog delegation that Mulugu was a predominantly tribals (Adivasis) district.
“We are trying to utilise the available resources and funds for the improvement of health, education, agriculture and water resources, skill development and infrastructure sectors,” he added.
NITI Aayog Special Secretary Dr K Rajeshwara Rao said they had come to study and take steps to improve education, health and agriculture sectors in the two districts in the coming 20 years.
“These two backward districts will be adopted by the Centre and assistance will be provided for various development projects. I assure you that the NITI Aayog will help the districts if you come up with good proposals for development,” Rao added.
The team also visited the World Heritage Site Ramappa temple at Palampet village in Mulugu district, along with district level officials.
