Nizam Raunaq Yar Khan hosts traditional Sankranti celebrations
Raunaq Yar Khan, the 9th Nizam of Hyderabad, organised traditional Sankranti celebrations promoting Hindu–Muslim unity. Festivities included rangoli, Bhogi campfire, folk dances, devotional songs, kite flying, and a grand feast, highlighting gratitude, brotherhood, and cultural harmony.

Hyderabad: Sankranti celebrations marking the spirit of Hindu–Muslim unity and goodwill were organised in a traditional manner by Raunaq Yar Khan, the 9th Nizam of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty and Custodian of the Estates here on Tuesday.
The venue was transformed into a vibrant Sankranti landscape with traditional rangoli designs, Bhogi campfire, and worship of the Sun god. In addition, there were folk dances, Haridasu devotional songs, Gangireddulu performances, kite flying, Vedic peace hymns, and a grand feast, including sweet pongal and other traditional delicacies.
Raunaq Yar Khan said Sankranti is a festival that celebrates gratitude, abundance, and sharing. “By celebrating it together across faiths, we reaffirm that unity, mutual respect, and brotherhood are the true strengths of our nation.”
