Nizamabad: ACB nabs SI taking Rs.20,000 bribe

A case was registered against Nagaraju and to grant station bail, the SI demanded Rs.50,000.

Nizamabad: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested the Sub-Inspector of Varni police station for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a farmer to grant station bail on Friday.

According to reports, SI Krishna Kumar demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000 for granting station bail to Nagaraju, who was involved in a fight with a person on November 4. A case was registered against Nagaraju and to grant station bail, the SI demanded Rs.50,000. Nagaraju urged the SI to reduce the amount for which he agreed and asked him to pay Rs.20,000. The farmer, angry over the demand made by the SI, approached ACB officials, who laid a trap and caught the SI red-handed accepting the bribe at the station.

A case was registered against the SI, who was produced before the ACB court in Hyderabad, where the judge remanded him in judicial custody.
