NMC directs medical colleges to integrate with ABDM portal immediately

The National Medical Commission has directed private and State-run medical colleges to immediately integrate their hospital systems with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission platform, warning that institutions failing to comply could face action while urging adoption of approved digital hospital solutions.

Hyderabad: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a stern directive to private and State-run medical colleges mandating the immediate integration of their hospital systems with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) portal.

The ABDM portal initiative aims to maintain constant vigilance over the standards of medical education and ensure accurate monitoring of clinical materials through patient Health Record Linkage (HRL).

The NMC, in a notice that was released recently, identified a large number of teaching hospitals in multiple states that continue to remain non-compliant with previous integration orders. The lapses include failures to correctly map Health Facility Registry (HFR) IDs, incomplete data reflecting on the ABDM-HMIS dashboard, and the continued use of non-ABDM-enabled software, NMC said.

The Commission has instructed these institutions to work urgently with their software vendors to meet technical milestones, such as ABHA integration and advanced data sharing features. Secretary, NMC, Dr Raghav Langer, cautioned that institutions failing to comply may face necessary further action from the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB). Colleges were also encouraged to consider adopting government-developed solutions like NIC’s “NextGen eHospital” or CDAC’s “eSushrut” to facilitate the mandatory transition.
