Peddapalli: National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee said vigilance should act as an instrument to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of organisations.

Participating in the Singareni Collieries Company Limited’s (SCCL) Vigilance Awareness Week celebrations at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad on Friday, Mukherjee said work culture improves only when employees perform their duties impartially, even in the absence of supervision. He observed that when individuals with integrity and sincerity grow in strength, they contribute to building a stronger nation.

He also underscored the importance of leadership capable of taking timely and balanced decisions based on prevailing circumstances and expected outcomes, which he said is crucial for public sector undertakings. Ethical values, he noted, are far more significant than mere adherence to rules.

Presiding over the event, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Balram detailed Singareni’s diversified expansion plans, stating that the company is gearing up to enter the international mining sector with the support of NMDC.

Responding to this, Mukherjee appreciated the proposal and said NMDC will explore opportunities to collaborate with SCCL in future coal and other mining projects. He also lauded Singareni’s initiatives in environmental protection.
