Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police have asked the organisers of Sree Rama Navami Shobha Yatra processions to adhere to the ‘ban on playing DJ systems’ on Sunday.

In September last year, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand issued orders prohibiting Disc Jockey (DJ) sound systems which are powered by mobile speakers delivering high decibel sound and firecrackers, during religious processions in the city.

The notification was issued after the city police held a meeting with organisers of various religious processions, representatives of various political parties and government departments following concerns raised by the citizens over sound pollution during the religious processions.

As per the notification issued on September 30, the use of DJ sound systems, DJ sound mixers, sound amplifiers and other high sound generating equipment, appliances and apparatus or contrivance which is capable of producing or reproducing the sound are prohibited during religious processions.

The police however, allowed the use of sound systems, but with certain restrictions in the sound decibel limits.

“All steps will be taken to implement the ban on use of DJs during the procession. The step is being taken in view of the inconvenience caused due to loud music by citizens. Any violation will be taken seriously and legal action initiated,” said a senior official of Hyderabad Police.

The local police and the special branch teams will keep a tab and record the violation using cameras. “The videos will also be submitted in the court as evidence,” he added.
