Karimnagar: BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Tuesday urged the State government to order a probe into BJP leader Eatala Rajender’s allegation that there was a conspiracy to eliminate him.
The Minister appealed to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy and Karimnagar Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy to take immediate action since the allegations were aimed at ultimately blaming the State government. “Former naxals, who reportedly informed Rajender about the conspiracy, should be taken into custody immediately and details extracted from them,” Kamalakar said at a media conference here.
He also wanted Rajender to reveal the names of former naxals as well as the Minister who allegedly hatched the conspiracy against him, to make the probe easy. “Since the BJP is in power at the Centre, the party’s State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar should also take initiatives to ensure that a probe is conducted either by CBI, NIA or any other central investigation agency,” he said.
Stating that there were only political suicides in Telangana, he said the practice of murder politics and physical attacks does not exist in the State. “It is the responsibility of the State government to protect Rajender. I wish him a long life. I would much rather sacrifice my life to protect his life,” Kamalakar said, adding that barring political rivalry, he had no personal enmity with Rajender.
He also suspected that the BJP leader may be enacting the conspiracy drama to gain sympathy among the voters in Huzurabad bypoll. “If Rajender made the statement to gain sympathy, he should stay away from the Huzurabad election as well as active politics by admitting the mistake,” he said.
Stating that Rajender was indirectly casting aspersions at him, Kamalakar said he was ready to step down from the Minister’s post as well as active politics if Rajender’s allegations are proved true in the course of investigation.
Kamalakar said everybody knows how Rajender forced the police to arrest and register cases against student leaders and sent them to jail. He also expressed apprehensions about possible attack on Rajender by his own men. “Hence, the police should provide adequate protection to the BJP leader during his padayatra,” he said.
When asked about opposition’s allegation that the government had selected Huzurabad for the pilot project of Telangana Dalit Bandhu with an eye on the by-election, Kamalakar said the scheme was conceived when Rajender was in the State Cabinet.
“Moreover, Rythu Bandhu, which was also launched in Huzurabad, is a big success. Hence, the Chief Minister chose Huzurabad for Dalit Bandhu,” he said, adding that there was no political angle to it.
