Hyderabad: TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao urged the people of Huzurabad constituency especially the Dalit families not to be disheartened by the decision of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to suspend Telangana Dalit Bandhu (TDB) scheme in the constituency. He asserted that no one including ECI can stop implementation of Dalit Bandhu in the State after November 4 when the model code of conduct will cease to be in force in Huzurabad constituency.

“TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav will win the by-election with the blessings of the voters of Huzurabad. He will resume the scheme as your MLA after November 4 and implement it successfully,” he asserted.

In his presidential address at the TRS plenary session held at Hitex on Monday, Chandrashekhar Rao promised that the scheme would be implemented for all Dalit families before the end of December this year where the scheme is being implemented on pilot basis. Upon successful implementation, teams from the remaining constituencies will visit Huzurabad and study the scheme to replicate it successfully in their constituencies.

“I am also going to visit all constituencies where the Dalit Bandhu scheme is being implemented on pilot basis. By March next year, the Dalit Bandhu will be implemented in all Assembly constituencies,” he said.

Ridiculing the arguments of the Opposition parties over Dalit Bandhu, the Chief Minister said the amount being invested on the scheme was minimal compared to the overall outcome and its benefit. He said the investment on Dalit Bandhu was neither a subsidy nor a wasted expenditure, but a capital asset building exercise to improve the socio-economic condition of Dalit families. As per estimates of economists, about Rs 1.7 lakh crore investment required for the scheme would soon turn into Rs 10 lakh crore wealth for the State, he said.

“We must ensure that all the downtrodden sections in the State prosper. The Dalit Bandhu scheme will not be limited to SCs alone. It will be extended to all other sections of society including tribals, BCs, economically backward sections among upper castes and also minorities. We will not be narrow-minded in implementing the schemes on the basis of religion and caste like others,” he said.

The TRS president wondered what stopped the Congress and the BJP from implementing Dalit Bandhu or any other such innovative schemes during their tenure in 60-70 years of Indian independence anywhere in the country. He stated that these parties considered people as vote banks, and made no concrete efforts to eliminate poverty. The Delhi parties (national) will not be able to implement such schemes as their Central leaderships will not agree to implement them in the States, fearing that similar demands will be made in other States ruled by them, he said.

“Only TRS can implement the scheme as people of Telangana are our bosses and their needs are our priority,” he added.

After achieving great heights in development and welfare, the Dalit Bandhu was taken up as a massive mission, Rao said, stating that he was confident that it would be a model for the rest of the nation. He stated that one cannot achieve anything without taking a daring step. He pointed out that the Opposition parties raised similar doubts over implementation of Rythu Bandhu, but the State government implemented the scheme successfully and the achievements in agriculture sector could be seen by all.
