Hyderabad: Apart from light drizzles at some places, the city has not received any major showers in the last one week. On the other hand, it was a warm and dry Monday, with the maximum temperature being 30.4 degree Celsius.

According to Dr K Nagaratna, director, IMD Hyderabad, there was no possibility of rain in the next two to three days. “This weather condition is called Break Monsoon and occurs when the monsoon trough shifts closer to the foothills of the Himalayas. Due to no rains, the temperature in the city will increase by one to two degrees in the coming days. However, the monsoon will revive in the second week of August across Telangana. Although, we cannot predict the intensity right now, there could be light to moderate showers, and sometimes heavy downpours in the State,” he said.

The forecast by the Telangana State Development Planning Society also informs of soaring temperatures in the city. The maximum temperature in Hyderabad during the next three days is expected to be between 31 and 33 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be in the range of 21 degree to 23 degree Celsius.

A few districts of Telangana recorded only light rains on Monday with Adilabad, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy and Medak witnessing under 10 mm rainfall. Yellandu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, received the maximum rainfall of 10.8 mm.
