Hyderabad: Dashing the hopes of many residents who were losing their properties in road widening, Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said there was no scope for realignment of the road in Malkajgiri.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad MLA Palvai Harish Babu said residents from Pallavi Housing Society, Malkajgiri had expressed concern over losing their properties due to widening of the Robert’s Road. They had submitted representation to this effect, he said.

The residents were appealing the State government to explore alternate lands or realign the road widening, he said during question hour in the Assembly on Monday.

However, the Industries Minister said there was lake on one side and defence lands on the other side. “Considering this, realignment of the road as appealed by Pallavi Housing Society residents is not possible,” Sridhar Babu said.

The Minister announced this while replying to a question by BRS MLA Marri Rajashekhar Reddy (who was not in the House).

The BRS MLA had asked if the government was aware that RK Puram Road Over Bridge and Road Under Bridge projects implementation was affecting 59 properties belonging to BPL families.

In response, the Minister said 54 properties were getting affected. The government was proposing to coordinate with GHMC, Revenue Department and defence authorities to pay fair compensation and it would be offered within two months, he added.
