Several BRS leaders were detained by Kodangal police on Sunday after they staged a protest against the demolition of graves, Ashoorkhanas and a dargah for road widening works. Led by Mohammed Masiullah and Azam Ali, the leaders reached the site despite police checkposts.
The road widening will be useful for visitors to Ameenpur Lake, which is notable for being the first urban water body in India to be declared a Biodiversity Heritage Site.
