Hyderabad: The Director, Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Gachibowli, Dr Vimala Thomas on Tuesday said that there was no shortage of medical oxygen for Covid patients and that there was never been any disruption in the oxygen supply.
Responding to claims that the hospital was struggling with oxygen supply, she said that liquid oxygen tank with 20 KL capacity is sufficient to meet the needs of the hospital with adequate pressure.
“Apart from the oxygen tanker, we also have oxygen manifold with D type cylinders. At present, we have a separate oxygen generator plant to refill this cylinder in-house. The news was posted just to tarnish the image of the hospital and scare the patients coming to the hospital. The deaths which happened in ICU were part of natural progression of the disease and due to complications and not due to shortage of oxygen,” Dr. Vimala clarified.
