Rajanna-Sircilla: Unable to clear his debts after his crop withered due to shortage of water, a tenant farmer Jella Devaiah (51) died, allegedly by suicide, in Mustabad mandal.
According to villagers, Devaiah, who went to the agricultural fields on Sunday evening, consumed pesticides. Villagers found him dead in the morning.
Devaiah, who owned one acre of land, cultivated crops by hiring some more land. He sowed paddy by borrowing money.
He was disappointed as the crop withered due to lack of water. Unable to clear the debts, he took an extreme step.
Police have registered a case and investigation is on.
