Hyderabad: A nonagenarian died after sustaining burns while lighting a cigar at his house in Chikalguda in the city on Saturday night.
According to the police, P Chitti Babu (98) a resident of Chilkalguda and a retired government employee, on Saturday night lighted a cigar and in the process his clothes caught fire after a spark of a match stick landed on it. The family members immediately doused the flames and rushed him to the hospital where he died due to severe burns.
On receiving information, the Chilkalguda police visited to the spot and shifted the body to mortuary. A case under Section 174 of CrPC is registered by the police and investigation taken up.
