Notorious gang of pickpockets held in Hyderabad

The arrested are Upadi Bolenath (42), Abdul Mannan (29), Mohammed Khadeer (26), Kamble Sikander (50) and Uppada Sunil (28), all residents of Afzalsagar in Mallepally.

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police arrested five members of notorious gang of pocket pickers who were allegedly involved in dozens of cases of theft of wallets and gold chains in public transport buses.

The arrested are Upadi Bolenath (42), Abdul Mannan (29), Mohammed Khadeer (26), Kamble Sikander (50) and Uppada Sunil (28), all residents of Afzalsagar in Mallepally. Two other members Kamble Sikander and Makkan Kasab, are absconding.


According to the police, the gang moved around in crowded buses and on getting opportunity flicked the wallets and gold chain from the commuters. The gang members then escaped with the property.

The gang was involved in 30 cases reported in Miyapur, RC Puram, Raidurgam, Humayunnagar, Chandanagar, KPHB, Filmnagar, Madhapur and Banjara Hills police stations, said DCP (Madhapur), Dr G Vineeth.
