Hyderabad: A medical visit for an elderly couple from the city allegedly turned stressful, following which their NRI-grandson accused traffic police officials at Trimulgherry of forcing immediate digital payment of a challan despite repeated requests for time.
Taking to social media, Gaushik Mandava, who recently returned from the US, said he was recently travelling with his grandparents for a medical check-up when he was stopped by traffic police.
Since he did not have Google Pay or PhonePe activated on his phone, he requested permission to clear the challan online after reaching home.
However, he alleged that the traffic officials insisted on immediate payment, forcing him to arrange money through another person. The delay reportedly caused his grandparents to miss their medical appointment.
Gaushik further alleged that even after the payment was completed, officer Ramu Naik refused to accept the payment screenshot and continued arguing, saying the system had not yet updated.
Describing the experience as stressful and disappointing, he appealed to senior officials to examine the incident and ensure citizens are treated professionally and respectfully.
