Karimnagar: Dr Anupama Gotimukala, an NRI who is also president of the American Association of Physicians of India (AAPI), organised a free medical camp in Parlapelli of Thimmapur mandal on Sunday.
Anupama conducted a medical camp in the memory of her father Prof Madhan Mohan Reddy. People from Parlapelli and surrounding villages attended medical camp in a big way and underwent medical tests.
Educating people about health, she said that people across the world were suffering with five types of diseases such as diabetics, blood pressure, heart, kidney and stroke. Instead of suffering after being attacked by diseases, people should take precautionary measures, she advised.
Based on the concept that prevention was better than cure, they were educating the people about health awareness. A majority of the women in the country die with cervical cancer every year, she said and advised that every woman should take cervical cancer vaccine by undergoing Pap Smear test.
Pressure has been mounted on both American and Indian governments to conduct mammogram, colonoscopy and blood tests to every woman crossing the age of 50 years without fail, she informed.
As part of adopting a village programme, they adopted 75 villages across the country and providing medical services in those villages.
Village sarpanch Bharathi Reddy, doctors Dr Venkat Reddy, Dr Vijay Gunaganti, Global Tele Clinics Director Gunukula Laxma Reddy and others participated in the medical camp.
