Hyderabad: A section of National Students Union of India (NSUI) is demanding the Congress leadership to cancel the appointment of Yadavalli Venkat Swamy, a native of Andhra Pradesh, as NSUI State president.
Holding placards and raising slogans, the NSUI leaders are staging a protest at Gandhi Bhavan. The protest is staged in the wake of NSUI National president Varun Chowdary’s visit to the State.
Police entered Gandhi Bhavan and are speaking to the protesting NSUI members.
Ever since the AICC issued orders on Venkat Swamy’s appointment as NSUI president on August 13, there has been uproar from within the party.
Taking serious objection to Swamy’s appointment, student unions members here had also appealed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to cancel his appointment.
Nativity details, including the Voter ID card of Venkat Swamy, in which it is mentioned that he is a resident of Chinna Kothapalli, Bapatla of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, were posted on different social media platforms in the past. Venkat Swamy was sworn in as NSUI State president.
Now, the NSUI members have intensified their demand and staged a protest at Gandhi Bhavan.
