NTPC surpasses annual power generation target

Peddapalli: Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, NTPC-Ramagundam continued to supply uninterrupted power throughout the year and eventually surpassed its annual target for fiscal year 2020-21.
The 2,600 MW Thermal Power Station generated 16,711.58 MUs (million units) against the target of 15,444 MUs. The Plant Load Factor (PLF) for fiscal year 2020-21 was 73.37 per cent against the target of 67.81 per cent.
With its concerted efforts, the plant also achieved its other annual targets like specific oil consumption, aux power consumption, specific water consumption and energy conservation.
Continuing its excellent performance in ash utilisation, the station achieved 111 per cent ash utilisation in 2020-21. With this, the station has achieved over 100 per cent ash utilisation in the last four consecutive years.
To further enhance ash utilization, the station has developed geo-polymer coarse aggregates as a replacement to natural aggregates for the construction of buildings with geo-polymer substances composed of 90% fly ash.
Already seven cubic meters of aggregates has been used in building construction in shopping complex inside township and a proposal for laying of road of around 1.25 kilometers length is under consideration.
For its overall performance, NTPC-Ramagundam has received many laurels as well as recognitions from various institutions across India.
They are State level National Energy Conservation Award 2020 runner up in Industry sector by TSREDCO, Telangana; National Energy Leader Award 2020 for excellence in energy efficiency by CII; Golden Peacock Award 2020 for energy efficiency from Institute of Directors, New Delhi; Apex India Green Leaf award 2019 by Apex India Foundation, New Delhi in the field of energy management system and many more.
Based on the all round performance, NTPC Ramagundam secured 2nd position in Business Excellence Assessment 2020 amongst all NTPC plants across India.
