Hyderabad: General Election Observer Ranjit Kumar Singh instructed election officials to ensure meticulous and foolproof arrangements for distributing, receiving, storing, and counting election materials at the Distribution, Reception, and Counting (DRC) Centre, adhering strictly to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Along with Singh, District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, Police Observer Om Prakash Tripathi, and Expenditure Observer Sanjeev Kumar Lal visited Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium on Friday and reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming bye-election in the Jubilee Hills bye-election, said an official release.

During the inspection, the observers examined the layout of the DRC Centre and reviewed the logistics and security arrangements for handling election materials safely, including EVMs and VVPATs. They also interacted with officials to understand the measures planned for a smooth and transparent process of distribution, reception, and counting.

58 candidates in fray, 4 ballot units to be used in each EVM

Hyderabad: District Election Officer RV Karnan said on Friday that a total of 58 candidates are contesting in the Jubilee Hills bye-election to be held on November 11. As the number of candidates is high, four Ballot Units (BUs) will be used in each Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). Consequently, the voting compartments will be larger than usual, he added.

A total of 600 presiding officers, 600 assistant presiding officers, and 1,200 polling officers will be deployed to ensure a free and fair election, said the DEO. Special queue lines for women will be arranged, and transport facilities for differently-abled voters will be provided, he said.

So far, election authorities have seized assets worth 2.83 crore being transported in violation of election norms and registered cases against 11 individuals for MCC violations, said DEO.

ECI urges Jubilee Hills voters to check candidate details via ECINET app

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday urged voters of the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency, to use the ‘Know Your Candidate’ module which is available on the ECINET mobile application. Through this module, voters can easily access complete details about contesting candidates, including their educational qualifications, cases, assets, and liabilities.

This initiative aims to promote transparency and informed voting, empowering every voter to know the background of their candidates before casting their vote. Voters can download the ECINET app from Android and iOS platforms and access the ‘Know Your Candidate’ section to stay well-informed before polling day, said an official release.

SVEEP programme educates students on electoral participation

Hyderabad: In a creative and engaging initiative, the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme was organised in a unique way at St. Joseph’s Degree College, Shaikpet, under Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency, on Friday.

The event aimed to educate, engage, and motivate eligible citizens and students about the importance of electoral participation in the upcoming bye-elections. The highlight of the programme was an interactive “Snake and Ladder” game, symbolising the game of democracy, where every vote becomes a move towards progress, according to an official release.
