Hyderabad: Hyderabad and hospitality are synonymous, and city-based restaurant chain Ohri’s is all set to spread the aroma of its hospitality to not only new areas within the city, but also outside the State.
Last year, Ohri’s launched its Cake Nation outlets in Kukatpally, Madhapur, Begumpet, Banjara Hills, Hitec City in addition to the one at SD Road in Secunderabad, Ohri’s Corporate General Manager Nakul Chandna said. Stating that the group aims to set up 15 Cake Nation outlets across Hyderabad, he said Ohri’s also plans to set up 50 Cake Nation outlets across the country, beginning with Bengaluru, Pune and Vijayawada.
“Ohri’s like others in the hospitality sector was also affected by Covid pandemic. There were many challenges but we recouped fast. All the supply chain mechanisms were streamlined, and focus was on optimum utility of manpower and winning the confidence of guests by providing safe food and good ambience,” Chandna said, adding that even during the lockdown, there was a steady flow of orders through online food delivery apps.
On the reason for focusing on bakery products, he said Hyderabad was basically a cake-lovers’ city and there was lot of scope in this sector. “Primarily, Ohri’s is value for money. For instance, a doughnut priced about Rs 100 in many outlets costs Rs 30 to Rs 60 at Cake Nation. Depending on the area, it costs about Rs 15 to 20 lakh to establish one Cake Nation outlet,” he explained.
Chandna said post Covid, there was considerable change in the eating habits of people, who preferred placing orders online. “But this has not cast any impact on guests numbers at the Group’s restaurants. Though we continue to get considerable orders online, a majority of sales is through dine-in services. That shows the confidence of customers in us,” he said.
Not confining to expansion of Cake Nation outlets, Ohri’s is also focusing on extending Sahib’s Barbeque restaurants to newer areas. Last month, Sahib’s Barbeque restaurant was launched at Hitec City and there are plans to set up four to five more in different parts of the city, he said, adding: “Currently, the group is focusing on setting up new units on its own in other cities but may also consider franchisees later.”
