Old age home staffer held for duping elderly in Hyderabad
He plotted to misuse the debit card for his lavish spending and made online purchases by placing orders with Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato and J.K Enterprises for a total worth of Rs 2 lakh.
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Cyber Crime police on Friday, nabbed a caretaker working in an old age home on charges of fraudulently using the debit card of an elderly person from the old age home and purchasing products worth Rs 2 lakh online.
The arrested person was identified as M.Vinay Reddy (25), a resident of Uppuguda in Charminar. According to the police, Vinay, who works at the old age home located in Nagole was recently instructed by the authorities to take care of an elderly man. While doing so, Vinay also used to handle the debit card and mobile phone of the senior citizen as part of his duty.
Having all these details with him, he plotted to misuse the debit card for his lavish spending and made online purchases by placing orders with Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato and J.K Enterprises for a total worth of Rs 2 lakh.
Following a complaint from the victim’s family members, the cyber crime police booked a case and with the help of technical clues nabbed him. The police advised citizens not to share any finance related information such as credit or debit card details with anyone.
