Hyderabad: Genome sequencing results of three international passengers who had arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad from at-risk countries, are awaited for conformation of Omicron variant, health bulletin on Tuesday said.
So far, 18 international passengers had tested positive for Covid-19 in the RT-PCR tests out of which 15 have tested negative for Omicron variant while results of three are awaited. All the Covid positive patients are in isolation and admitted to Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Gachibowli.
On Tuesday, a total of 80 international passengers had reached Shamshabad airport from at-risk countries and all of them tested negative in the RT-PCR tests. International travellers who tested negative have been directed to stay in home quarantine for one week. On the eighth day, the surveillance teams of the health department will conduct RT-PCR tests and if they test negative, then they must have to stay in home quarantine for one more week.
International passengers who test positive for Covid-19 on the eight day of their home quarantine will be shifted to TIMS, Gachibowli for isolation and treatment. Their blood samples will be collected and sent for full genome sequencing to confirm the presence of Omicron variant.
