Hyderabad: As Covid-19 infections continue to rise across the country due to the Omicron variant, travel curbs and other protocols have been put in place to control the spread. The Union Home Ministry has issued a general advisory for inter-State travel.
According to the advisory, there shall be no bar on inter-State travel by air, rail, water, or road. Asymptomatic patients who have been vaccinated with both Covid-19 jabs could be exempted from showing a negative RT-PCR report on their travels.
Passengers who are found symptomatic on arrival shall be subjected to Rapid Antigen Test. The home ministry has, however, allowed the States to implement additional restrictions, based on their local requirements.
Here is the list of States that have implemented Covid-19 restrictions for domestic travellers:
1. Goa
All travellers will be required to show a negative Covid-19 test report, which should be no more than 48 hours old before arriving in Goa. Those who fail to do so will have to undergo a mandatory test, which will cost passengers Rs 2000.
2. Delhi
Random sample collection will be performed on passengers arriving in Delhi, particularly those arriving from states that have increased in Covid-19 cases. All passengers will be subjected to thermal screening, and those who test positive will be quarantined for 10 days.
3. Jammu and Kashmir
Travellers will be required to show a mandatory negative RT-PCR report that was not obtained within 72 hours of their arrival. Those who fail to do so will have to undergo a mandatory test. Also, all passengers arriving at the airport will be placed in institutional quarantine until the results of their test arrive.
4. Karnataka
Travellers arriving in Karnataka from Maharashtra will be subjected to institutional quarantine for 7 days, followed by home quarantine for 14 days. The home quarantine will be required for all visitors from other states as well.
5. Andhra Pradesh
Passengers arriving from Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh will be subjected to a Covid-19 test. In addition, passengers arriving from these states will be subjected to a mandatory 7-day institutional quarantine. Those arriving from other regions will be subjected to 14-day home quarantine.
6. Sikkim
Passengers will be required to provide a negative RT-PCR report, which must have been performed within 72 hours of the date of entry. Those who fail to provide the required reports will be subjected to a rapid antigen test at Pakyong Airport and all entry checkpoints.
7. Tripura
Every fifth passenger arriving in the state will be subjected to random Covid-19 testing. Those who have travelled internationally in the last 28 days will be subjected to institutional quarantine until their test results are declared.
8. Madhya Pradesh
Thermal screening is mandatory for all passengers on arrival. Those arriving from Maharashtra will be required to provide a mandatory RT-PCR negative report obtained 72 hours before their journey. Those who are unable to provide the report will be required to take the test. Those who test positive will be subjected to a 10-day institutional quarantine.
9. Haryana
Thermal screening mandatory for all inbound passengers and domestic travellers will not be subjected to a mandatory Covid-19 test. Those who test positive will be subjected to 14 days of home quarantine. Anyone flying to Chandigarh will be required to complete a self-declaration form.
10. Tamil Nadu
Travellers from Delhi, Maharashtra, and Gujarat will be subjected to Covid-19 tests upon arrival. In addition, only symptomatic passengers arriving from other states will be required to test for Covid.
