Hyderabad: The Gopalpuram police solved the theft reported in the Ganesh Temple in Secunderabad last week and arrested a youngster here on Saturday. Police said the suspect had begun looting temples after starting to believe that the Gods were not blessing him with wealth.
M Santosh alias Ravi (21), an intermediate dropout from Bodhan in Nizamabad district and currently staying in a men’s hostel at Chikkadpally, wanted to be a doctor, but took to crime after he got ‘convinced’ that the Gods were not answering his prayers and not giving him the career nor the money he needed.
“He also pledged to return the stolen wealth back to the Gods after making his own fortune,” police said, adding that he was involved in burglaries at eight temples so far. Interestingly, he spent a major portion of the money he stole on betting.
In the wee hours of May 14, he broke into the Ganesh Temple near the Secunderabad Railway Station and stole cash from the collection box, after which the police began a search for him and finally nabbed him on Saturday.
