Hyderabad: One person was killed while 10 others were injured seriously after the traveller van they were travelling in crashed into a stationary lorry near Palem village in Mahabubnagar district in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to information reaching here, the deceased was identified as Swaroopa, 45, wife of Anantharam, while from among the injured, one Viswanath was identified. The two were part of a group of 11 from Chikkadpally in the city that was on its way back from Tirupati. The rest of the passengers were yet to be identified. The family had gone to Tirupati on January 13.
The driver of the traveller, V. Yadagiri, is suspected to have not noticed a lorry parked near Palem village of Kothakota mandal on National Highway-44 and crashed the vehicle into the lorry around 2.30 am. Swaroopa was killed on the spot, police said, while the injured persons have been shifted to the Wanaparthy District Hospital.
