Here's all you need to know about 'One Nation, One Election' Bill, which will be introduced in the Winter Session of the Parliament on Monday.

Hyderabad: Four days after approval by the Union Cabinet, the Bills to enable simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha as well as State and Union Territory Assemblies will be introduced in the Lower House on Monday. The Bills will be introduced by Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal.
The Bill on ‘One Nation, One Election’ stresses need to hold simultaneous polls as elections have become expensive for these reasons:
• Imposition of Model Code of Conduct puts on hold entire development programmes
• Frequent poll code imposition impacts functioning of services
• Seeks to insert new Article in the Constitution and amend three Articles to put in place mechanism to hold simultaneous polls
How it will be implemented:
• After its enactment, the President will issue a notification on date of first sitting of Lok Sabha after general election
• Date of notification will be called appointed date
• Tenure of all State Assemblies shall come to an end on the expiry of the full term of Lok Sabha
• Bill will not require ratification by at least 50% of States
