Hyderabad: With just about anything being sold on the internet, consumers have really become kings! From purchasing clothes online to ordering instant doorstep deliveries of vegetables, and from ordering massage services in the comfort of your home to booking a priest to perform rituals via video, the internet offers quite a lot.

As providers of various services promise to deliver the best you could ask for, those who claim to have “cures for all your worries” are also quickly jumping on the bandwagon. With promises of providing relief from all the worries under the sun, “babas,” “tantriks,” “godmen,” “sorcerers,” and “black magic experts” have now turned to social media to market their “mystical powers.”

In the latest trend of making short videos to promote their trade, those following occult practices have started making Reels, Shorts, and short promotional videos for marketing.

While some claim to have distance healing powers, others predict your future with their mastery in astrology. There seems to be no getting away from this tomfoolery, despite the rapid advancement in science, research, and technology.

What is more astonishing is that these occult practices have found the easiest and most direct way into the lives of people with the help of the internet. With the ever-growing popularity of smartphones and the internet, reaching a potential ‘customer’ is simpler than ever.

There are several accounts across all social media platforms that provide online services in black magic, healing, witchcraft, and whatnot.

Be it winning over the person of your dreams or getting the person you hate killed, these online babas claim to have the powers to help you achieve whatever you desire, with a guarantee of your work being done or a 100 percent refund of your money in case of failure.

All you need to do is send in photographs and basic information of the person you want to cast a spell on, and it shall be done. The fees for it and other requirements are discussed over calls on the numbers projected on the screens.

The societal evils, which have affected scores of gullible people for centuries, have only evolved with time and tools like social media, which can be useful to provide exposure and widespread awareness have now been reduced to mere tools to promote and market such practices which may further affect several lives.

Here is an example of how the said black magicians post online:
