Operation and Maintenance ENC appears before Justice Ghose panel

Operation and Maintenance Engineer-in-Chief (ENC) Nagender Rao faced a barrage of questions from the commission, reportedly answering over 130 questions during the three-hour session

Hyderabad: Justice P C Ghose Commission probing the issues in the construction of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme barrages continued its open inquiry on Wednesday, with Operation and Maintenance Engineer-in-Chief (ENC) Nagender Rao appearing before the panel.

He faced a barrage of questions from the commission, reportedly answering over 130 questions during the three-hour session.

The commission questioned who was responsible for the gate operations and water storage, and why the gates were not opened during floods. The commission also inquired about the instructions to store water beyond the barrages’ capacity and whether the Operation and Maintenance Department had prepared a manual.

Nagender Rao said that there were no dedicated staff for operation and maintenance until January 2021. He submitted an Operation and Maintenance inspection report to the commission.
