Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police intensified security checks across the city under ‘Operation Kavach’, deploying around 3,000 personnel in more than 100 teams to prevent crime and identify potential threats.
The operation involved vehicle inspections, searches of suspicious individuals and verification of vehicle documents.
Officers also focused on vehicles with missing number plates, unauthorised VIP stickers and illegal modifications. Checks were conducted to detect prohibited substances and weapons.
In the Charminar Zone, the drive covered the limits of 15 police stations between 1 am and 3 am.
DCP Kiran Khare said the initiative was part of the zone’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety.
Police have also been enforcing restrictions on late-night commercial activity and conducting ‘Operation Chabutra’ to counsel people found loitering in public places late at night. Nearly 4,000 to 5,000 people have reportedly received counselling in recent days.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar participated in inspections in Chandrayangutta, Mailardevpally, Shamshabad, Attapur and Rajendranagar.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious people, vehicles or objects by calling the emergency helpline 112.
