Operation Muskaan XI: 1,247 children rescued in Hyderabad

Hyderabad Police, along with NGOs and government departments, rescued 1,247 children during Operation Muskaan XI in July. Of the rescued, 560 were from other states and 14 from Nepal. Police registered 55 FIRs and imposed fines over Rs 47 lakh

Hyderabad: In a major child protection initiative, the Hyderabad Police, in collaboration with multiple government departments and NGOs, rescued 1,247 children during Operation Muskaan XI, conducted between July 1 and 31.

A total of 28 divisional teams were deployed to inspect commercial establishments, construction sites, traffic junctions, bus and railway stations, and other locations suspected of exploiting children.


Among the rescued children, 1,173 were boys and 74 girls. While 673 of the children rescued are natives of Telangana, another 560 are from other states. Significantly, 14 children were found to be from Nepal, highlighting the cross-border nature of the issue.

As part of the drive, the police registered 55 FIRs against employers engaged in illegal child labour. In addition, 939 cases were booked and fines amounting to Rs 47,75,921 were imposed on violators.
