Rajanna-Sircilla: Collector Anurag Jayanthi advised Dalits to develop their economic status by selecting long-lasting units under Dalit Bandhu scheme.

The Collector organised a meeting with Dalits in Rangampeta of Veernapalli mandal on Friday and educated the community people about the sanction of units. Speaking on the occasion, he informed that 22 Dalit families from the village have been selected for the scheme based on their economic conditions after a grassroot level survey. Instead of temporary units, beneficiaries should select units that would provide employment for a long time. A number of beneficiaries could set up big units by forming groups, he advised.

Stating that the selection of units was a choice of beneficiaries, he said that government officials would educate and guide the community people to choose better units. The Collector instructed officials to educate beneficiaries to select units either individually or jointly. Under the scheme, Rs 10 lakh would be sanctioned to each beneficiary. Out of that Rs 10,000 would be deposited in Dalit protection fund.

Additional Collector B Satyaprasad, DRO (in-charge) T Srinivasa Rao, SC corporation executive director Vinod Kumar, DAO Ranadheer Kumar, DRDO K Koutilya, DTO Kondal Rao, GM industries department Upender Rao, and others participated in the meeting.
