Hyderabad: The Department of Sociology researchers at Osmania University (OU) have been granted an Indian patent for designing and developing a wearable device that collects voter feedback in real time.
The Indian Patent Office awarded the patent to the research team led by Dr. Ram Shepherd Bheenaveni, Chairman of the Board of Studies in Sociology at OU. The team includes Dr. Katherasala Srinivas, Kummari Nityanandam, Ravi Naik Bhukya, and Nagarjuna Eddula.
The innovative device has been developed to identify and analyse public opinion and audience reactions in real time while political speeches are being delivered. This development represents a significant step forward in the field of civic technology, the researchers said.
The patented device has the potential to transform the way democratic discussions take place. Its key feature is the ability to provide a systematic, data-driven approach to assessing public opinion and citizen participation in real time, they said.
By helping bridge the communication gap between political leaders delivering speeches and the public, the device offers a modern technological solution for understanding people’s reactions and responses, they added.
