Outsourcing workers stage beg-on-streets protest in Suryapet over unpaid salaries

Outsourced employees at the Government General Hospital in Suryapet staged a novel protest by seeking alms on the streets after not receiving salaries for five months. The workers demanded timely wage disbursal and urged the government to resolve the issue before the upcoming festival.

Suryapet: Outsourcing employees at the Government General Hospital in Suryapet district hit the roads seeking alms to highlight their plight. They have not received salaries for the past five months. The workers expressed anguish over their financial hardships, staging a protest by sitting on the road and boycotting duties.

Services were disrupted, affecting patients at the hospital. They revealed that despite multiple appeals to the District Collector, no resolution has been provided for their issues.

The employees are demanding immediate release of their pending salaries. They seek a commitment from the government to disburse wages by the 5th of every month.

“We are begging to survive,” the workers lamented, highlighting their distress. They further voiced concern over the government’s inaction, stating that two employees have already committed suicide due to financial problems.

The protesters appealed to the government to intervene promptly and release their dues, assuring that they would celebrate the upcoming festival peacefully if their demands are met.
