Khammam: Over 200 Congress workers from the Madhira Assembly constituency have joined the TRS in the presence of Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar here on Wednesday.
At a programme at the TRS district party headquarters, the Minister welcomed the Congress leaders and workers into the party. They joined the TRS under the leadership of Zilla Parishad Chairman Lingala Kamalraj.
The sarpanch of Patarlapadu gram panchayat, Kandra Pitchaiah, ward members Pillalamarri Kondalu, Kothapalli Bose, V Rama Rao and others and Nagulavancha Market Committee Chairman Nallamothu Seshagiri Rao were among those who joined the TRS.
The sarpanch and others stated that they were impressed with the development and welfare programmes being implemented by the TRS government for the benefit of poor sections and hence joined the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar said under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao villages and towns have been achieving a visible development in a rapid manner.
The Minister asked the new entrants to make committed efforts towards the growth of the party at the grassroots level in effective coordination with the local party leaders. The TRS government was working for the all-around progress of all the sections in the society, he noted.
The ZP Chairman Kamalraj, expressing pleasure at the Congress leaders’ decision to embrace TRS, sought their support for the better implementation of government’s welfare and development initiatives in their respective areas.
TS Seeds Corporation Chairman, K Koteswar Rao, SUDA Chairman, B Vijay Kumar, Wyra MLA, L Ramulu Naik, MLC, B Lakshminarayana, TRS district party office in-charge Gundala Krishna and others were present.
