Hyderabad: Over 400 senior citizens, including 120 participants aged 70 years and above participated in a walkathon from Mahboob College to Hari Hara Kala Bhavan, Secunderabad, as part of the International Day of Older Persons, on Thursday morning.
Adding to the lively atmosphere, the walkers were enthusiastically cheered by school children, whose support brought energy and joy to the proceedings. The walkathon concluded at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan, which was also the venue for celebrations, marking International Day of Older Persons.
Organised by Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in collaboration with the Heritage Foundation Regional Resource and Training Centre, Hyderabad, the International Day of Older Persons celebrations was held on the theme ‘Ageing with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons.”
K R Gangadharan, Founder, Heritage Group of Companies, V Mohan Reddy, former MLA from Sircilla, Dr G Nageswara Rao, vice president, AASARA Central Project Committee, GHMC, and Prabhakara Reddy, Project Director, Heritage Foundation RRTC and others were present.
