Hyderabad: Over 600 Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) interns, who are posted at peripheral government medical colleges and hospitals in Telangana, on Wednesday resumed their peaceful statewide protest over stipend parity after a 10-day break.
The interns had previously put their agitation on hold from October 24 to November 3, after getting assurances from Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and senior health authorities over their demands.
“With no official written order issued following multiple rounds of talks, we are forced to resume our strike and protest demonstrations,” FMG graduates maintained.
The interns are pressing forward with three primary demands including immediate implementation of a monthly stipend of RS 29,792 to match Indian Medical Graduate interns, disbursement of all eligible stipend arrears accrued from January 2026 onward, and guaranteed protection against victimisation, punitive actions, or arbitrary internship extensions for participating in the peaceful demonstration.
The FMG representatives said that despite continuous follow-ups and meetings, including discussions where the Health Minister requested additional time to consult with the Chief Minister, no concrete written circular or Government Order has been provided.
Maintaining that FMG interns carry out clinical responsibilities equivalent to their peers, the memes of FMG association expressed frustration over prolonged delays and differential treatment. The medical graduates, who pursued MBBS in foreign countries, have appealed directly to the Health Minister to intervene and provide a written resolution.
