Hyderabad: Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod said Arogya Lakshmi programme was being implemented in the State since January 1, 2015, and the government had so far spent Rs.1,110.89 crore on the scheme.
The programme was launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to provide nutritious food to pregnant and lactating women and children in the State to reduce malnutrition and anaemia among them, the Minister said during question hour in the Legislative Assembly here on Tuesday. As part of Arogya Lakshmi programme, one hot cooked nutritious meal was provided to women and children for 300 days a year. In addition to the Central government component of supplementary nutrition programme, the State government was providing additional food under Arogya Lakshmi, she informed.
Under the Arogya Lakshmi scheme, 4,65,805 pregnant and lactating women, 10,43,419 children (aged 7 months to 3 years) and 6,74,336 children (aged 3 years to 6 years) had benefited so far, the Minister said.
On the salary revision of Anganwadi teachers, she said Anganwadi’s were strengthened by the State government by extending required support. At present, Anganwadi teachers were getting an honorarium of Rs 10,500 a month. The Centre’s share in this was only Rs 2,700 and the State government was paying Rs.7,800. Similarly, in Aya’s salary, Rs.1,350 was being paid by Centre and State’s share was Rs. 4,650, she said.
“If 30 per cent PRC is implemented, teacher’s salary will be increased to about Rs.13,600 and Aya’s salary will be increased from Rs.6,000 to Rs. 7,800,” said Satyavathi Rathod.
