BRS alleges political interference in Anganwadi recruitments
The BRS has accused the Congress government of paving the way for political interference in Anganwadi recruitments through new guidelines. The party demanded the withdrawal of GO No. 37 and sought changes to ensure a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.
Hyderabad: The BRS on Thursday accused the Congress government of opening the door for political interference in Anganwadi recruitments and suspected attempts to favour Congress workers. The party leaders demanded immediate changes to the new recruitment guidelines.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan, former Minister Satyavathi Rathod objected to the provision empowering District Collectors to award 10 discretionary marks. She said it could lead to recommendations from MLAs, Ministers and in-charge Ministers influencing selections. She insisted that the recruitment process should remain transparent and merit-based.
“Eligible candidates may lose opportunities if discretionary marks are misused,” she said, demanding the withdrawal of the new GO and the restoration of the earlier system.
Satyavathi Rathod accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its promise of two lakh government jobs and instead turning welfare schemes and recruitments into avenues for corruption. She reminded that the previous BRS government ensured transparency in Anganwadi recruitments, upgraded mini-Anganwadi centres and enhanced salaries and benefits for workers.
Former MP Maloth Kavitha said the Congress government had become a scam-driven administration and demanded the withdrawal of GO No. 37. She asserted that the BRS would continue to support Anganwadi workers and press for changes in the recruitment process.
Former Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma said the new system could revive political influence in appointments and turn the Anganwadi network into a centre of corruption.
