‘Paatal Lok 2’ promises to deepen narrative on Amazon Prime
Prashant Tamang, Jahnu Barua, Nagesh Kuknoor add to the thrill

Hyderabad: After directing the popular crime thriller ‘Paatal Lok’, Avinash Arun Dhaware has returned with the second season of the television series, which is making waves on Amazon Prime.
Dhaware is known for his films such as Killa, Three of Us and the series School of Lies. Created by Sudip Sharma, the first season revolved around Hathiram Chaudhary, a weathered Delhi cop, played by Jaideep Ahlawat, and his junior Imran Ansari who investigated the attempted murder of a high-profile TV journalist.
In the second season, the duo will try to solve the murder of a prominent Nagaland politician in Delhi. The return of the beloved characters promises to deepen the narrative as they navigate a new investigation. Gul Panag, Tillotama Shome, Prashant Tamang, Nagesh Kukunoor and Jahnu Barua are the added attractions. Gul Panag, who essays the role of Hathiram Chaudhary’ wife, in season 2, has said that her part in the show is the emotional fulcrum for Hathiram.
Prashant Tamang, a former Indian Idol 2007 winner, is the sniper villain Daniel Lecho in Paatal Lok 2 and controls the narrative from behind. Born in Darjeeling, Tamang started his acting career in Nepali films in 2009. Gorkha Paltan, Angalo Yo Maya Ko, Kina Maya Ma and Nishani are some of his popular films.
Jahnu Barua as ‘Uncle Ken’ plays a significant role. Known for directing Assamese and Hindi films such as Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khai, Firingoti, Xagoroloi Bohu Door, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara, Konikar Ramdhenu, Baandhon, Ajeyo, he won both Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. He was also the chief of the Film Federation of India Jury committee which selected ‘Laapata ladies’ for Oscar 2025.
Nagesh Kuknoor, the national award-winning director, plays the role of Kapil Reddy in the series. Kuknoor, who is from Hyderabad, has directed films such as Iqbal, Dor, Hyderabad Blues, Lakshmi. Gul Panag was cast in his film Dor in 2006.
