Suryapet: Paddy stocks that had been seized from a rice mill in Gaddipalli village surfaced at the Suryapet Agricultural Market on Tuesday, raising many eyebrows.
The paddy, illegally stored by the mill two years ago, was transported to the market in the very same lorry that was previously seized along with the mill. The mill, known for its irregular practices, had been under the scrutiny of the Civil Supply authorities for quite some time.
The seized paddy had been mysteriously vanishing in smaller increments over the past few months. However, local authorities claimed that the paddy was freshly procured from farmers and delivered to the market yard.
They however remained silent on how the gunny sacks bearing the seizure marks could be used to deliver the paddy.
Efforts to reach the local Civil Supply officials for their response on this episode have been unsuccessful so far.
