Despite ongoing crackdowns, diversion of custom milled rice (CMR) continues in Telangana’s Mancherial and Nirmal districts, leading to significant government revenue losses. Recently, two millers in Mancherial were booked for diverting over 12,686 metric tonnes of rice worth Rs. 45 crore.
The process of CMR has become a tough task for the Civil Supplies department due to lethargy displayed by certain rice millers of the district in returning the grains to the govt on time
The party working president KTR stated that the scandal occurred at highest level in the government, without the knowledge of Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Maheshwar Reddy said though he raised 19 issues in his letter to CM A Revanth Reddy with regard to procurement of paddy and fine rice tenders, Uttam Kumar responded to only one issue and ignored others to hide the facts.
The district has been witnessing continuous rains for the last four days, leaving the farmers worried. The farmers were waiting for nearly one month for their produce to be procured at several places.
Chief Secretary directed senior officials of different departments to prepare an action plan to complete the process of reducing the burden of compliances by February this year
Acting on a tip off, the Chaderghat police stopped an auto-rickshaw at Shankarnagar in Chaderghat and found the vehicle driver transporting the rice in bags.
Chandrashekhar Rao directed the officials of the departments of Agriculture, Marketing and Civil Supplies to plan procurement accordingly and ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience during the process.
