Hyderabad: World Soil Day is held annually on December 5 as a means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocate the sustainable management of soil resources with objective and a wonderful theme – Be the solution for the soil pollution.
The Pallavi International School, Gandipet branch celebrated the soil day at school campus. The programme began by reciting poem on soil. The event was preceded with a warm welcome to the chief guest accompanied by Principal Meetali Archit and students welcomed with guard of honour.
Pallavi International School, Gandipet branch CCA in-charge Rajeswari introduced chief guest Raghuveer, an IFS Officer, who retired as PCCF, VC&MD TS Forest Development Corporation Ltd. Principal Archit felicitated chief guest.
Principal Meetali Archit addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of soil day.
The soil story was told by Spoorthi Kuppa, a student of grade VIII. The chief guest also addressed the gathering and explained to the students about social responsibilities towards our planet and sustainable management of resources and plan of action and learning outcome, how to be responsible and change this world by bringing change in ourselves as responsible citizens.
Students also took a soil day pledge.
On this occasion the PIS Gandipet inaugurated an organic farm on the school premises. The yield of the school organic farm will be donated to old age homes and orphanages. The event was concluded by a dance on the beats of happy soil by Grade VI students, a vote of thanks, followed by the national anthem.
