Pallavi Model School, Bowenpally, preprimary students celebrated Bonalu recently. Ramya, parent of Mahonath Reddy, a student of UKG-B narrated the importance of the Bonalu festival. She said that Bonalu is celebrated usually during Ashada Masam.

The word Bonam means Bhojanam. It is an offering to the Mother Goddess. The festival is considered as a form of thanksgiving to the Goddess after the fulfillment of vows, Ramya said.

It was followed by a dance by students with decorated bonams on their heads. It was a delight to see little ones dressed in as pothuraju, who were cynosure to all eyes, dancing to the tunes of traditional songs.
