Pallavi Model School, Alwal celebrated ‘World Mosquito Day’ observed on August 20 virtually. World Mosquito Day is a commemoration of British doctor Sir Ronald Ross’s discovery in 1897 that female mosquitoes transmit malaria to humans. It is celebrated to mark the breakthrough discovery in the fight against malaria.
Principal Sunir Nagi Kaur illuminated the children about the discovery of mosquitoes based on diseases spread through them along with a few preventive methods. Students of class IX presented a marvelous skit on the different types of viruses and diseases caused due to mosquito bite which were appreciated by everyone, they showcased through animation how mosquitoes’ eggs breed with few preventive methods. This was followed by an insightful role-play skit on malaria. Later a student permeated a few facts about mosquitoes; another student exhibited an eye-catching comic strip on different ways to prevent mosquito diseases.
The assembly created awareness about the consequences caused by the mosquito bite followed by prevention methods and observing Friday as the dry day. Following such preventive measures will fetch results in the fight against deadly mosquitoes, speakers at the event informed students. Children too resolved to join the fight against mosquitoes by creating awareness among the citizens.
