Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao called on the people to participate in the fourth phase of Palle Pragathi programme which will be held from July 1 to 10 and make it a success. He wanted the youth, women, senior citizens and celebrities to become partners in the progress of their village.
Speaking at a media conference in his chambers at Rangareddy Zilla Parishad’s office here on Wednesday, Minister Dayakar Rao said the Palle Pragathi programme ideated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to change the face of the villages, had achieved remarkable success. He said the Centre presented many awards as the villages were transformed due to Palle Pragathi. He urged people to conduct a Gram Sabha during Palle Pragathi and focus on implementing issues pertaining to sanitation and preventive measures against spread of seasonal diseases.
“We have allocated Rs 6,500 crore for various works in villages. However, certain works have not been completed for various reasons. The officials have been instructed to complete pending works pertaining to Vaikuntadhamams and dumping yards over the next 10 days to bring them into usage, failing which action will be taken against them,” he said.
The Minister said as per the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, land acquisition has been taken up to develop Bruhath Palle Prakruthi Vanams (nature parks) in every mandal. He stated that there are no pending bills as the funds were being released promptly to the rural local bodies. He suggested that the officials spend a night in the villages and resolve the local issues as part of Palle Pragathi programme. The Minister himself will tour 25 districts over next 10 days, to participate in the programme. He urged people to become partners in development of their native villages and contribute their might through philanthropic programmes.
