Panic as fire breaks out at textile showroom’s store room in Hyderabad’s Ghansi Bazaar; no casualties
Residents noticed fire and thick smoke from the top floor of the building, which is surrounded by commercial complexes, and alerted the Fire Department and police
Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in the store room of a textile showroom located in a multi-storey building at Ghansi Bazaar near Madina Market in Old City on Friday night.
Officials suspect a short circuit could have caused the fire.
Local residents noticed fire and thick smoke from the top floor of the building, which is surrounded by commercial complexes, and alerted the Fire Department and police.
Three fire engines were rushed to the spot and doused the fire within two hours. “The store room was full of cotton, fiber and cloth material due to which thick smoke engulfed the surrounding areas, triggering panic among the residents,” said Charminar Inspector K Chandra Shekar.
The people present in the building and adjacent buildings rushed to safety.
Officials said the cost of the property damage was yet to be estimated.
