Hyderabad: Panic continues in the villages of Thippapuram, Ananthagiri and Peddalingapuram in the Ellanthakunta mandal of Sircilla district following tiger movement in the hills located in the mandal.

The wandering tiger killed four cattle on the outskirts of Thippapuram village in the early hours of Tuesday. It is suspected to have moved into the hilly area near the village and is resting there.

For the second consecutive day, the forest officials were trying to track the tiger, which is believed to be moving in the hills. The villagers of Ananthagiri village claimed that the tiger was spotted near the Pochamma temple on the village outskirts on Wednesday morning.

On information, the forest officials reached the spot and are checking for pugmarks. It is believed the tiger is taking shelter in the hills located around Thippapuram and Ananthagiri. A big reservoir surrounded by hills with thick bushes outside the villages is giving safe shelter and a source of water to the tiger.

The forest officials and teams of wildlife experts roped in to track the movement of the tiger used drones to trace its location in the hills and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, the villagers were asked to stay away from the fields during early mornings and late evenings. The local police and the gram panchayat officials were also asked to alert the villagers about the movement of the tiger.

People in surrounding villages were also alerted about the movement of the tiger, as it is said to be moving around 10 to 15 kilometres during the night in search of prey.
