Warangal: The sight of a tiger has triggered fear among the people of Orri Narsayyapally village in Nallabelli mandal of the district on Saturday.

According to reports, a woman saw a tiger in a cornfield and alerted the villagers. Farmers left the fields after hearing about the presence of a tiger.

Forest and police officials reached the village and launched a search operation. Tracks of two tigers were found in Warangal and Mahabubabad districts on Friday.

A team of officers, led by Forest Range Officer (FRO) Narsampet Ravi Kiran, detected the tiger’s pug marks on Friday in Kondapuram and Rudragudem villages of Nallabelli mandal.

A farmer from Rudragudem village, who went to the chilli field to spray insecticide in the morning, noticed the tiger’s pug marks and informed the forest officials.

Based on the pug marks, it had been identified that a 10-year-old male tiger came towards Rudragudem, Ravi Kiran said.

The Forest Department officials on Friday said a tiger had come from the Tadwai forests of Mulugu district to the Kondapuram forests of Kothaguda mandal of Mahabubabad district.

Officials claimed that the tiger had gone from the fields into the forest area of the Kondapuram suburb.

They have installed CCTV cameras at various places to trace its movement from Kondapuram forests towards Otai, Rampur and Karnagandi forests.

The forest officials believe that the tiger had come to the suburb of Rudragudem, a plain area, in search of a suitable habitat.
