Mancherial: Patients from the Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) in Mancherial were shifted to the Government General Hospital (GGH) on Thursday, following a heavy rain forecast issued by the Telangana Development Planning Society.
Acting on the instructions of District Collector Kumar Deepak, authorities moved hundreds of pregnant women, new mothers and newborns to the GGH, as the MCH premises faced a high risk of inundation due to rising floodwaters.
The hospital is situated on the banks of the Godavari River, which is in spate following heavy rains in upstream areas and the discharge of surplus water from the Sripada Sagar Yellampalli project downstream.
